Jesus Christ

Jesus is the reason why we live. Jesus is the center of all we do. Despite the many ways we pursue life without God and fail to live rightly, out of love God sent his only Son to die on a cross in our place and on the third day he rose from the dead. As our famous church sign states, ‘Jesus Saves’, and ‘Christ [is] our hope’.

Jesus Christ is the most important and influential figure in history. Hundreds of millions of people across the world today worship him as Lord and Saviour, including a growing community in Mentone.

John 3:16 says, ‘For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.’

Jesus himself says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” First of all, Jesus is saying that there is a way to God. It is possible to know God. It is possible to have all our sins forgiven and taken away. When we’re desperately sick and a surgeon says to you, “I have great news; there is a way to save your life. This is it. Take it”, we don’t then look for alternative solutions, we rejoice that there is a way and we grab it. There is a way to God, but only one because only Jesus can deal with our sin and take the punishment we deserve for it. Only Jesus rose from the dead and is powerful enough and loving enough to do what is required to save us.
